From the center of Unawatuna, head south towards the main road (Galle-Matara Road). Continue walking along the beach until you reach the main road. Once there, turn left and walk along the road for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass several shops and cafes on your way. Keep an eye out for the signs directing you towards Dikwella. After approximately 15-20 minutes, you will reach the junction for Beliatta Road. Turn right onto Beliatta Road, and continue walking for another 1 kilometer. The Wewurukannala Buduraja Maha Viharaya will be on your left, just before you reach the town of Dikwella.

If you prefer a quicker option, you can hire a tuk-tuk from any location in Unawatuna. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Wewurukannala Buduraja Maha Viharaya in Dikwella. The journey should take about 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will take you directly to the temple, and you can enjoy the scenic views along the way.

Public Bus
For a local experience, you can take a public bus from Unawatuna to Dikwella. Head to the bus stop near the main road (Galle-Matara Road) where buses frequently pass. Look for a bus heading towards Dikwella; they are usually marked with a sign displaying the destination. The ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Dikwella bus station, exit the bus and walk towards Beliatta Road. The Wewurukannala Buduraja Maha Viharaya is about a 10-minute walk from the bus station. Head left on Beliatta Road, and you will find the temple on your left side.
