The drive is approximately 30-45 minutes depending on traffic and road conditions. Once you reach Itaswi, look for signs indicating Mkungunero Game Reserve, which is located just outside the village. Please note that the road may be unpaved in some areas, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.

Start by locating a local dala-dala (minibus) station in Masai Steppe. Board a dala-dala heading to Itaswi. The journey will take around 1-2 hours, depending on stops along the way. Once you arrive in Itaswi, you can either walk or hire a local taxi to take you to Mkungunero Game Reserve. The distance from the Itaswi bus stop to the reserve is about 5 kilometers. Be prepared to pay a small fare for the taxi, typically around 10,000 TZS.
