Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car from Ruaha National Park, head northwest on the A104 highway. Follow the A104 for about 200 kilometers until you reach the junction with the A7 road. Turn left onto the A7 and continue for approximately 45 kilometers until you reach the entrance to Tarangire National Park. The entrance is well-marked, and you'll need to pay an entrance fee, which is around $45 per person for international tourists. Be sure to have cash ready, as card payments may not be accepted.

• Public Transportation

  From Ruaha Region, take a local bus or shared taxi to the nearest major town, which is Dodoma. Once in Dodoma, locate the bus station and find a bus heading to Arusha. The bus ride will take approximately 5 hours. After reaching Arusha, transfer to another bus going to Tarangire National Park. This last leg may take an additional 2 hours. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they can vary. Expect to pay around $10 for the bus from Dodoma to Arusha and another $5-$10 for the bus to Tarangire. Be prepared for potential delays in the bus schedule.

• Private Transfer

  For a more comfortable and private option, consider hiring a private car or transfer service from your accommodation in Ruaha Region. This option allows for flexibility in your travel schedule and the opportunity to stop along the way for refreshments or sightseeing. The cost for a private transfer can vary greatly, but expect to pay around $150 to $300 depending on the provider and vehicle type. Ensure to arrange this in advance.
