Getting There

  • Bicycle

    From the center of Zanzibar City, head east towards the coast on Jamhuri Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Mkunazini Street. Turn left onto Mkunazini Street and follow it until you reach the roundabout. Take the first exit onto Nyerere Road. Continue on Nyerere Road for about 5 km, then turn right onto a dirt road just before you reach the village of Tunguu. Follow the signs for Zonga Spice Farm; it's about 2 km down this road.

  • Walking

    Starting from the Old Fort (Ngome Kongwe) in Stone Town, walk towards the ferry terminal on the waterfront. From there, take the path leading to the main road (Sultan's Palace Road) and head southeast. Continue straight for about 1 km until you reach the Mkunazini Church. From the church, take a left onto Mkunazini Street and proceed until the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Nyerere Road. Continue walking for approximately 5 km and then turn right where you see a dirt path leading to Zonga Spice Farm, which is about 2 km down that path.

  • Public Transport (Daladala)

    From the city center, head to the nearest daladala station. Look for a daladala heading to Tunguu or Jumbi. The fare is very affordable. Once you are on the daladala, inform the driver that you are going to Zonga Spice Farm. The driver will drop you off at the closest point. From there, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to the farm, which is approximately a 20-minute walk from the drop-off point.
