    From Johnson City, you'll want to start at the Johnson City Transit Center located at 137 W Main St, Johnson City, TN 37604. Check the local bus schedule and board the Route 1 (Bristol) bus. Ride the bus until you reach the stop at the intersection of W State of Franklin Rd and N Roan St. This stop is a key transfer point. Here, you will transfer to the Route 3 (Piney Flats) bus. Stay on the Route 3 bus until you reach the stop at Hyder Hill Rd. From this stop, it is about a 0.5-mile walk to the Rocky Mount State Historic Site. Head northeast on Hyder Hill Rd, and you will see the site on your left at 200 Hyder Hill Rd, Piney Flats, TN 37686.

This trail will lead you out of Johnson City and toward Piney Flats. Follow the trail until you see signs for Hyder Hill Rd. Turn right on Hyder Hill Rd and continue cycling until you reach Rocky Mount State Historic Site at 200 Hyder Hill Rd, Piney Flats, TN 37686. The total distance from downtown Johnson City is approximately 10 miles.
