Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are near the main campus area of the University of Tennessee, start at the Student Union located at 1502 Cumberland Ave. Head south on Cumberland Ave towards the intersection with Volunteer Blvd. Turn right onto Volunteer Blvd. Continue walking straight for about 0.3 miles. The Rock will be on your left, situated close to the Humanities Building. It’s a large boulder that students often paint with various messages.

  • Bus

    For those near the Knoxville Area Transit bus stops, you can take the KAT route 10 or route 11. Board the bus at any nearby stop heading towards the University of Tennessee. Get off at the stop at Volunteer Blvd and Cumberland Ave. From there, it is a short walk (about 0.1 miles) south on Volunteer Blvd to reach The Rock, which will be on your left as you approach the Humanities Building. Note that bus fares are typically around $1.00 for a single ride.
