Getting There

• Songthaew

  From the Old City area in Chiang Mai, find a local songthaew (red truck) by heading to one of the main roads such as Ratchadamnoen or Thapae Road. You can wave down any passing songthaew and ask to go to 'Mae Taeng' or 'Thai Elephant Home'. The fare should be around 50-100 THB per person, depending on your negotiation skills. The journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Inform the driver you need to stop at Thai Elephant Home located at 102 moo 2 Kuedchang Mae Taeng.

• Tuk-Tuk

  For a more private experience, you can hire a tuk-tuk from your hotel or a nearby tuk-tuk stand. Agree on the price beforehand, which should range between 500-800 THB for a round trip. Provide the driver with the address: 102 moo 2 Kuedchang Mae Taeng. The ride will take around 30-45 minutes. Make sure to confirm a pick-up time for your return.

• Public Bus

  Head to the Arcade Bus Station in Chiang Mai. You can get there by taking a songthaew or tuk-tuk. Once at the station, look for buses heading towards Mae Taeng. The bus ride will take about 1 hour, and tickets cost around 30-50 THB. Ask the bus conductor to drop you off at the nearest point to Thai Elephant Home. Once you get off, it may be a short walk to the location, so ask locals for directions if needed.

• Bicycle Rental

  If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle from a local shop in Chiang Mai. Head out of the Old City towards the north and follow the signs towards Mae Taeng. The ride is approximately 30 kilometers and can take 2-3 hours depending on your cycling speed. Make sure to have a map or GPS to guide you along the way. Once you reach Kuedchang, ask locals for the Thai Elephant Home at 102 moo 2.
