Getting There

Songthaew
From any point in Pai, head to the main road (Rte 1095) and look for a songthaew (a shared red taxi). Songthaews frequently travel between Pai and Mae Taeng. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they are going to Mae Taeng. The fare is usually around 100-150 THB per person, and the trip takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. You will be dropped off at the Mae Taeng intersection.

Motorbike
If you're comfortable riding a motorbike, rent one in Pai. Start by heading northeast on Rte 1095 towards Mae Taeng. Continue for approximately 30 km until you reach the Mae Taeng District. Look for signs directing you to Chiang Mai Mountain Sanctuary (Elephant). The sanctuary is located near Mae Taeng, and the journey takes around 1 hour. Make sure to have a map app for precise navigation.

Bicycle
For the adventurous, renting a bicycle is an option. Head out of Pai towards Mae Taeng on Rte 1095. The ride is approximately 30 km and will take around 3-4 hours depending on your pace. Along the way, enjoy the beautiful scenery. Keep an eye out for signs to Chiang Mai Mountain Sanctuary (Elephant) as you approach Mae Taeng.
