Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from the center of Chiang Mai, head southwest on Huay Kaew Road. Continue straight for about 6 kilometers. You will reach the entrance to Doi Suthep-Pui National Park where you may need to pay a small entrance fee of around 30 THB. After the entrance, continue driving for about 3 kilometers up the winding road until you reach the parking area near Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the temple at the summit.

  • Songthaew (Shared Taxi)

    From the Old City area or Nimmanhaemin, you can catch a songthaew (red truck taxi) that is headed to Doi Suthep. Look for songthaews marked with 'Doi Suthep' on the front. The fare is typically around 40-60 THB per person one way. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. The songthaew will drop you off at the parking area near the temple.

  • Public Bus

    Take the local public bus (route 34) from the Arcade Bus Station or the Old City. The buses leave regularly and the fare is very economical, around 20-30 THB. The bus will take you to the base of Doi Suthep, where you will need to take a songthaew or a taxi for the last stretch to the temple, which is about a 10-minute ride and may cost around 30 THB.

  • Motorbike Rental
