Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the city center of Chiang Mai. Head west on Ratchadamnoen Road towards the junction with Huay Kaew Road. Turn left onto Huay Kaew Road and follow it for about 6 kilometers. You will pass the Chiang Mai Zoo on your left. Continue straight until you reach the entrance of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, where there is a parking area. Note that there is an entrance fee of approximately 30 THB per person, so have some cash ready.

  • Songthaew (Shared Taxi)

    To take a Songthaew, go to one of the designated Songthaew stops in Chiang Mai, such as the Chiang Mai Gate Market. Look for Songthaews heading to Doi Suthep. The fare is typically around 40-60 THB per person. The driver will drop you off at the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park entrance. From there, you can either walk or take a short taxi ride to the temple and various trails inside the park.

  • Public Bus

    You can also take a public bus (number 34) from the Chiang Mai Arcade Bus Station. This bus will take you to the base of Doi Suthep, and the fare is around 20 THB. Once you arrive, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers uphill to reach the main temple area. Alternatively, you can hire a motorcycle taxi to take you to the temple if you prefer not to walk.

  • Motorcycle Rental

    If you are comfortable riding a motorcycle, consider renting one in Chiang Mai. Rental shops are plentiful, and rates start around 100 THB per day. From the city, follow the same route as for cars, taking Huay Kaew Road. Enjoy the scenic ride up the mountain, and park at the designated areas near the temple. Remember to wear a helmet and have your driver's license with you.
