If you are driving, start from Thurso, the nearest major town. Head south on the A9 for approximately 8 miles. You will pass the sign for the village of Halkirk on your left. Continue straight until you see a sign for Ord of Caithness. Follow the signs to the parking area, which is located at the base of the mountain. There might be a small parking fee, so be prepared with change.

To reach Ord of Caithness using public transport, take a bus from Thurso to Halkirk. The journey takes about 20 minutes. From Halkirk, you will need to walk approximately 2 miles south along the A9 to reach the parking area for Ord of Caithness. Once you arrive at the parking area, if you choose to walk to the summit, be prepared for a hike. The trail to the top of Ord of Caithness is well-marked, but it can be steep in sections. If you are not driving, walking from Halkirk to the parking area is also an option, but it is a lengthy walk of around 2 miles.
