Strategically positioned just 170 metres north of the airport’s main east/west runway, the Aeropark features two viewing mounds that provide unrestricted panoramic views of East Midlands Airport’s bustling operations. These mounds are at the height of the airport perimeter fence, offering perfect vantage points for photography and plane spotting. Visitors can observe a variety of modern passenger and cargo aircraft as they take off and land, blending the past and present of aviation in one location.

The Aeropark is equipped with practical amenities including accessible parking, restrooms, picnic tables, and a visitor shop and snack bar known as "The Aeropark Cabin," which offers refreshments, snacks, and aviation-themed souvenirs. While the aircraft interiors are occasionally accessible depending on weather and staffing, the outdoor environment encourages leisurely exploration. The site is wheelchair accessible except for the interiors of aircraft and viewing mounds, which are grassed and may be challenging in wet conditions.

Nestled in the north-west corner of East Midlands Airport, the Aeropark is near the village of Castle Donington and close to the Donington Park motor racing circuit. Its proximity to major transport routes such as the A42, A453, and M1 motorway junction 23a makes it convenient for visitors traveling by car. Public transport options include nearby train stations and Skylink bus services connecting Derby, Nottingham, and Leicester.

Visitor Guidelines and Restrictions

To maintain safety around the active airport, certain restrictions apply: drones and kites are prohibited due to the risk they pose to aircraft; dogs (except assistance animals) are not allowed; and ball games or similar activities are forbidden. A 2m height restriction applies at the car park entrance. The Aeropark operates seasonally from April to October, open Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:00 to 17:00.
