Travel Guide to Blackwall Basin

Getting There

• Tube

  To reach Blackwall Basin using the London Underground, start by making your way to the nearest Tube station. If you're in central London, you can easily access the Jubilee Line at stations like Westminster, London Bridge, or Canary Wharf. Take the Jubilee Line towards Stratford and alight at the Canary Wharf station. From there, follow the signs for the exit, and upon exiting the station, head towards the North Dock and follow the riverside path south. Blackwall Basin will be just a short walk away along the waterfront.

• DLR (Docklands Light Railway)

  If you prefer the Docklands Light Railway, you can either make your way to Bank station or Canary Wharf station, where you can catch the DLR. If you're at Bank station, take the DLR towards Lewisham and get off at the Blackwall station. From Blackwall station, exit and head towards the Thames Path. Walk along the path heading towards the east, and you'll arrive at Blackwall Basin in about 10 minutes.

• Bus

  For those who prefer to travel by bus, you can find several bus routes that will take you close to Blackwall Basin. From central London, catch the bus number 135, which travels from Oxford Circus to Crossharbour. Get off at the stop near Canary Wharf, and then walk towards the river. Alternatively, you can take the D3 bus from the Barking area, which will take you directly to Blackwall. Once you get off, follow the signs to Blackwall Basin which is a short walk.

• Walking

  If you are already in the Canary Wharf area and wish to walk to Blackwall Basin, start from Canary Wharf underground station. Head towards the river following the signs to the Thames Path. Once at the waterfront, turn right and walk along the riverside path. You will pass various docks and enjoy views of the water, and after about 15-20 minutes of walking, you will reach Blackwall Basin. It’s a beautiful walk, perfect for those who enjoy scenic views.
