If you are starting from Newcastle Central Station, exit the station and turn left onto Neville Street. Walk straight for about 5 minutes until you reach the Quayside area. Cross the swing bridge and head towards the Tyne Bridge. Once you reach the other side, continue along the riverside path for another 10 minutes. You will see a steep staircase on your left going up to Castle Stairs. Climb the stairs, and you will find yourself at the historic Castle Stairs.

From Eldon Square, head towards Northumberland Street. Walk down Northumberland Street until you reach the junction with Grey Street. Turn left onto Grey Street and walk until you reach the Theatre Royal. Continue straight onto Grey Street, which will lead you to the Quayside. Once at the Quayside, turn left and walk along the riverside for about 15 minutes until you find the staircase leading up to Castle Stairs.
