Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, head towards Stirling, located approximately 30 miles northwest of Edinburgh. From the M9 motorway, take the exit for Stirling A91. Follow the A91 into Stirling and then take the A872 towards the city center. Look for signs directing you to the historic landmarks, including Stirling Castle. The Beheading Stone is located near the castle, so park at one of the public parking areas nearby, such as those on Castle Wynd or the Old Town Jail. From the parking area, it’s a short walk to the Beheading Stone, located at the top of a hill with stunning views of the surrounding area.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Stirling by public transport, take a train from major cities like Edinburgh or Glasgow. Trains run frequently, and the journey from Edinburgh takes about 50 minutes, while from Glasgow it takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Stirling railway station, exit the station and catch a local bus or taxi to Stirling Castle. Alternatively, you can walk from the station to the castle, which takes about 20-25 minutes. Upon reaching Stirling Castle, follow the signs leading to the Beheading Stone, which is a short walk uphill from the castle grounds.

• Walking

  If you're already in Stirling and prefer to walk, head towards the city center and follow the signs to Stirling Castle. The Beheading Stone is located a short distance from the castle, accessible via a walking path that leads uphill. The walk is not strenuous but does have some steep parts, so wear comfortable shoes. The route offers breathtaking views of Stirling, making the walk enjoyable.
