Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Pitlochry. Head north on the A9 for about 7 miles. Take the exit towards A827, keeping right to stay on A827. Continue on this road for around 8 miles, passing through the small village of Killiecrankie. As you approach the T-junction, turn left onto the A822. Follow this road for approximately 6 miles until you reach the junction with the B846. Turn left onto B846 and follow the signs for Kinloch Rannoch. After about 10 miles, you will arrive at Kinloch Rannoch. The parking area for Craig Varr is accessible from the village. Note that parking may incur a small fee, so have some change ready.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a train to Pitlochry Station. From there, you can catch a bus towards Kinloch Rannoch. The 'Stagecoach' service runs regularly, but be sure to check the schedule in advance, as times can vary, especially on weekends. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Kinloch Rannoch, you may need to walk to the Craig Varr trailhead, which is about a 15-20 minute walk from the village center. No additional costs are typically required for the walk, but have some cash for the bus fare.

After reaching Kinloch Rannoch by car or bus, you will need to make your way to the Craig Varr trailhead. From the village center, head towards the eastern end of the loch. Follow the signs for the Craig Varr hiking path. The trail is well-marked and will take you through beautiful scenery. The walk to the trailhead should take about 15-20 minutes. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as the hike can be challenging.
