Getting There

  • Walking

    Exit the Sistine Chapel and head towards the main entrance of the Vatican Museums. As you leave, turn left and walk straight until you reach the large courtyard known as the Cortile della Pigna. Continue walking straight through the courtyard and exit through the archway on the far side. You will now be in the Cortile Belvedere. The Vatican Apostolic Library is located to your right, after a short walk.

    From the Sistine Chapel, turn right after exiting and follow the path that leads towards the Vatican Gardens. Keep walking straight, and you will eventually reach a gate leading into the Cortile Belvedere. The Vatican Apostolic Library is located a few steps inside the cortile to your right.

    After visiting the Sistine Chapel, head back into the Vatican Museums. Walk straight through the galleries until you reach the exit. Once outside, turn left and proceed towards the corner of the Vatican Museums complex. You will find an entrance to the Cortile Belvedere. The Vatican Apostolic Library is just to the right as you enter the courtyard.
