Walking
Once you are inside the Vatican Library, exit the library and proceed towards the entrance of the Vatican Museums. From the library, follow the signs directing you to the 'Musei Vaticani' (Vatican Museums). This will typically involve walking through the beautiful Vatican Gardens and then entering the museum complex. After entering the Vatican Museums, continue walking straight until you reach the 'Sistine Chapel' signs. Follow these signs to the chapel, which is located at the end of the museum route. The walk should take about 15-20 minutes.
Public Transportation
If you are starting from a location outside the Vatican Library, you can take Line A of the Rome Metro and get off at 'Ottaviano' station. From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the Vatican Museums. Follow the signs leading towards the Vatican, and when you reach the entrance to the museums, you will be able to walk through to the Sistine Chapel as described above. Note that tickets for the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel cost approximately €17 per adult. Make sure to check for any additional booking fees if you reserve online.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route to the Vatican Museums, you can take a taxi from your location. Simply ask the driver to take you to 'Musei Vaticani'. The taxi will drop you off near the entrance to the Vatican Museums. From there, follow the signs to the Sistine Chapel as previously described. Taxi fares in Rome can vary, but expect to pay around €10-€20 depending on your starting location.
