Travel Guide to The Lareau Park

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from Camel's Hump State Park, head south on Camel's Hump Road. Continue on to Vermont Route 100 by turning left onto the road. Drive approximately 10 miles south until you reach Waitsfield. Look for 5875, 6051 Vermont Rte 100, where The Lareau Park is located on the right side of the road. There is parking available at the park. Please note that while the park itself is free to enter, parking may have associated costs, so be sure to check for any posted signs.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you will first need to take a bus from the nearest major city, Burlington. You can take the Green Mountain Transit bus service to Waitsfield. Once you arrive at the Waitsfield bus stop, it is about a 1.5-mile walk to The Lareau Park. Head south on Vermont Route 100 and walk approximately 30 minutes to reach the park. Ensure to check the bus schedules ahead of time for available routes and times, as service may vary.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can bike from Camel's Hump State Park to The Lareau Park. Start by heading south on Camel's Hump Road until you reach Vermont Route 100. From there, turn left and continue south for approximately 10 miles. The route is scenic and follows the river, but be cautious of traffic as you approach Waitsfield. The park has bike racks available for securing your bicycle.

• Walking

  If you are already nearby and prefer to walk from Camel's Hump State Park, it is a scenic but lengthy journey. Head south on Camel's Hump Road, then turn left onto Vermont Route 100. The walk is about 10 miles and will take approximately 3-4 hours. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry water, as there are limited facilities along the way.
