If you're driving from towns like Easton or Salisbury, head south on US-13. Continue on US-13 until you reach the town of Pocomoke City, then take MD-364 E towards Chincoteague. After crossing the bridge onto Chincoteague Island, follow Beach Road directly to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge located at 8231 Beach Rd, Chincoteague, VA 23336. The refuge is approximately a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from Easton and about 1 hour from Salisbury. Parking is available at the refuge, and there is usually no entry fee, but check for any special events that may incur costs.

There are limited public transportation options directly to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. However, you can take a Greyhound bus to Salisbury, MD. From there, you would need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to cover the approximately 30-mile distance to Chincoteague Island. Taxis may charge around $50-$70 for the ride from Salisbury to Chincoteague.
