After about 0.5 miles, turn left onto Caroline Street and continue walking for about 0.3 miles. You will pass several shops and cafes. At the intersection with Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway), turn right. Walk along Route 1 for approximately 0.4 miles until you reach the intersection with Lee Drive. Turn left onto Lee Drive. Continue on Lee Drive for about 0.7 miles; the Fredericksburg Battlefield visitor center will be on your right, and the battlefield site is accessible nearby.

    Starting from downtown Fredericksburg, you can rent a bike at one of the local bike rental shops. Once you have a bike, head east on Princess Anne Street towards the Rappahannock River.
