Car
If you are traveling by car within Northern Neck, start by heading towards Virginia Route 604 (also known as Cape Charles Road). Depending on where you are located in Northern Neck, you may need to take Route 3 or Route 360 to reach Route 604. Once you are on Route 604, continue to follow the signs towards Cape Charles. As you approach Cape Charles, keep an eye out for the signs directing you to the Cape Charles Natural Area Preserve. The Preserve is located at the end of Kiptopeke State Park Road, just south of the town of Cape Charles. There is no entrance fee for the Preserve, but be aware that there may be parking fees if you decide to park at Kiptopeke State Park.

Public Transportation
If you are relying on public transportation, your best option would be to take a bus to Cape Charles. The nearest major bus service is provided by Greyhound, which has stops in nearby cities such as Norfolk. From Norfolk, you can rent a car or arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Cape Charles. Once in Cape Charles, you can walk or bike to the Natural Area Preserve, which is about 3 miles from the town center. Please be aware that public transportation options may be limited, so it is advisable to check the schedules ahead of time.

Bicycle
For the more adventurous, consider biking to Cape Charles Natural Area Preserve. If you are already in Cape Charles, you can easily rent a bike from a local shop. Once you have your bike, take the scenic route along the Chesapeake Bay. The ride from the town center to the Preserve is approximately 3 miles and offers beautiful views of the bay. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow local traffic laws. There are no fees for biking into the Preserve.
