Getting There

    To get to Bainbridge Island from Kirkland, start by walking to the nearest bus stop that serves the Metro bus line. You can take the King County Metro Bus Route 255 from Kirkland Park & Ride. Board the bus heading towards the University District. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop at the Northgate Transit Center. After getting off, transfer to the Sound Transit Route 586 bus going to the Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal. Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, purchase your ferry ticket and board the ferry to Bainbridge Island. The ferry ride takes about 35 minutes, and you'll enjoy beautiful views of the Puget Sound.

    If you prefer to ride a bicycle, you can start from Kirkland’s waterfront and follow the paved bike paths towards the Burke-Gilman Trail. Head west on the Burke-Gilman Trail until you reach Ballard Locks. From there, continue towards the Ballard neighborhood and follow the signs to the ferry terminal. At the terminal, you can board the ferry to Bainbridge Island. Ensure that you check the ferry schedule beforehand to align your ride and ferry departure times.

    Walking directly to Bainbridge Island is not possible since it is across the water. However, you can walk to the nearest bus or ferry terminal. If you are near Kirkland’s downtown area, head towards the Kirkland Park & Ride located at 128th Avenue NE and NE 85th Street. From there, you can catch a bus to the ferry terminal as mentioned earlier, or walk to the nearest bus stop and follow the public transit options outlined.
