If you are driving, start from the main parking area in Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, located at 1000-1001 Washington St, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425. Head southeast on Washington St toward High St, then make a right onto High St. Follow this road until you reach the intersection with Shenandoah St. At this point, take a left onto Shenandoah St, which leads to the footbridge access point. Park your car in the designated parking areas near the footbridge entrance, as some areas may require a parking fee.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take the MARC train or Amtrak to the Harpers Ferry train station, which is the closest station to the park. From the train station, you can walk to the footbridge. Exit the station and head southeast on Potomac St. Continue until you reach the intersection with Shenandoah St. Take a left on Shenandoah St, which will lead you to the footbridge entrance. Be aware that the walk is approximately 1 mile and may take about 20-30 minutes.

Once you reach the entrance of the footbridge, you can easily access the C&O Canal Towpath by walking across the footbridge. Simply follow the signs that direct you towards the C&O Canal, which runs parallel to the Potomac River. To reach Maryland Heights, continue walking along the C&O Canal Towpath until you find the trail that leads up to Maryland Heights, a popular hiking area with stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
