Canyon Rim Visitor Center: Gateway to Adventure

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving to the Canyon Rim Visitor Center from any location within New River Gorge National Park, you will want to head towards the town of Lansing. The visitor center is located at 162 Visitor Center Rd, Lansing, WV 25862. From the New River Gorge Bridge, take US-19 North for about 3 miles, then take the exit for Route 60 East. Continue on Route 60 for approximately 4 miles, and then turn left onto Visitor Center Rd. Follow this road until you reach the visitor center parking lot. There is no entrance fee to park at the visitor center.

• Public Transportation

  Currently, public transportation options directly to the Canyon Rim Visitor Center are limited. If you are using public transit, you will likely need to take a bus or shuttle service to nearby towns, such as Fayetteville or Oak Hill. From there, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to take you the remaining distance to 162 Visitor Center Rd, Lansing, WV 25862. • Bicycle

  For those wishing to bike to the Canyon Rim Visitor Center, you can access the visitor center by cycling through the park's scenic roads. Make sure to have a good map or GPS, as some trails may not be well-marked. The route from the New River Gorge Bridge to the visitor center is approximately 5 miles. Ensure you have necessary biking gear and check local bike rental services if you don’t have your own bike. Always follow safety guidelines while biking on the roads.
