Getting There

  • Walking

    From the main campus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, begin at Bascom Hill. Head south on State Street until you reach the intersection with University Avenue. Continue straight on University Avenue for about 1 mile until you reach the intersection with Seminole Highway. Turn left onto Seminole Highway. The University of Wisconsin–Madison Arboretum will be on your right, approximately 0.5 miles down the road. Total walking distance is about 1.5 miles and should take around 30-35 minutes. The Arboretum is located at 1207 Seminole Hwy, Madison, WI 53711.

  • Bus

    From the main campus, walk to the nearest bus stop on University Avenue. Board the Metro Transit bus route #80 (or any bus heading towards the Arboretum area). The bus will take you along University Avenue. Get off at the stop closest to the Arboretum, which is typically the 'Arboretum' stop. The fare is approximately $2.00 for a single ride, and buses run every 30 minutes. After you disembark, walk a short distance to the Arboretum entrance at 1207 Seminole Hwy. The total travel time, including waiting and riding the bus, is around 20-30 minutes.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the campus bike-sharing programs. Start at the Memorial Union and head south on State Street. Follow the bike paths along University Avenue, then turn left onto Seminole Highway. The Arboretum is about 1.5 miles from the Memorial Union, and the ride should take approximately 10-15 minutes depending on your cycling speed. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic regulations. Parking for bicycles is available at the Arboretum.
