What to expect
The Majorelle Garden, Created in the space of forty years, the ensemble, surrounded by walls, consists of a labyrinth of intersecting paths, interlocking levels and boldly coloured Art Deco Moorish buildings. The garden is a gigantic and opulent mound of exotic plants and trees from the most distant lands, In 1980, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, who discovered Morocco in 1966, bought the Majorelle Garden to save it from a hotel complex project that was considering its destruction. The new owners decided to live in the villa of the artist Jacques Majorelle, renamed Villa Oasis. Please note that tickets for the Majorelle Garden are available online only.
The Koutoubia Mosque is the largest mosque in Marrakech, It is located in the district of the southwestern of the medina. The mosque is decorated with curved windows, a ceramic band, pointed merlons and decorative arches; it has a large square with gardens, and is lit at night. The minaret is 77 meters (253 feet) high and includes an arrow and orbs. It was completed during the reign of the Berber Almohad Caliph Yaqub al-Mansur (1184-1199), and inspired other buildings such as the Giralda in Seville and the Hassan Tower in Rabat.
Bahia Palace is considered one of the grand palaces of the Moroccan city of Marrakech, or what is called the Red City. Created by Minister Ahmed bin Musa, in the 19th century, to commemorate the name of his wife, “Bahia”, and today it is an artistic masterpiece dating from the splendor of Moroccan architecture of Andalusian character which overflows with its civilizational manifestations, in particular What you tell about the secrets of ancient history.
Located next to the mosque of the Kasbah, the Saadian tombs are one of the only vestiges remaining from the Saadian dynasty which reigned on the golden age of Marrakech between 1524 to 1659. At the beginning of the 18th century, Sultan Moulay Ismaïl indeed decided to remove all traces of the magnificence of this dynasty by asking for the destruction of all the remaining vestiges. However, he did not dare to commit the sacrilege to destroy their graves and ordered that the entrance to the necropolis be walled up.
