You'll have the opportunity to savor the village's relaxed atmosphere, explore its historical heritage, and perhaps sample its famous Colares wine, celebrated for its unique cultivation area.
Palácio e Parque Biester
The Biester Palace, nestled in the heart of Sintra is a historic gem that embodies neoclassical elegance dating back to the last two decades of the 19th century (1880-1890), and is a Romantic work par excellence, eclectic and exuberant, with elegant elevations that reveal the good taste of the period at its peak Our tour will allow you to admire its stunning exterior and lush gardens while taking in the surrounding beauty of Sintra's landscape. While we won't explore the Palace's interior or its Park, we can make a short stop nearby as you'll be captivated by the architectural grandeur and the tranquil atmosphere of its surroundings.
Castelo dos Mouros
The Moorish Castle is a captivating medieval fortress perched high in the hills that was built by the Moors in the 8th and 9th centuries. It was an important strategic point during the Christian Reconquest, and was taken by Christian forces after the fall of Lisbon in 1147. Although we won't be going inside, we will stop at certain viewpoints where you'll be able to see the Castle.
Park and National Palace of Pena
The Pena Palace, a dazzling UNESCO World Heritage site is a vibrant testament to 19th-century romantic architecture. Sitting at the top of the Sintra Hills, it's privileged location represents the monarchy at it's high in Portugal. A magnificent and exuberant Palace stands in the middle of a 85 hectares (210 acres) natural park filled with exotic specimens brought in from the four corners of the world. Although we won't venture inside, we will stop at certain viewpoints where you'll be captivated by the palace's romantic allure, the magnificent gardens, and the commanding views of the picturesque Sintra landscape.
Centro Historico de Sintra
The Historical Center of Sintra is a charming labyrinth of narrow streets and historic buildings where you'll still find a strong traditional environment amongst handicraft stores, restaurants and cafes. As we wander its cobbled lanes, you'll discover the beloved Piriquita Pastry Shop, where queijadas and travesseiros, local delicacies, tempt your taste buds. Additionally, you'll be able to admire the National Palace of Sintra from the outside, witnessing its architectural beauty and understanding its central place in the town's cultural tapestry. Within a 10 minute walk from here, we can reach Quinta da Regaleira, another famous monument, to take a glimpse at this impressive Palace from the outside.
