Having visited Iceland multiple times, we had been on the standard tours. The tours were all interesting and informative but one dreary day in April 2025, we were truly inspired by a tour of the Reykjanes Peninsula with Siggy (Sigfus) as our guide. The experience couldn’t have been better. We especially wanted to see the area where the recent volcanic activity had occurred. He was very accommodating to our request to poke around the recent eruptions and look at the lava flows that we had watched real-time on TV. It was very impressive to see the lava (some still warm) in real life.Siggy was punctual, friendly, full of insight into the region’s geology, history and current volcanic activity. His easygoing nature and humor made the day especially enjoyable. We visited a great mix of sites, including Kleifarvatn Lake, the new lava fields near Grindavik, Brimketill of the coast, the Bridge Between Continents, and the Reykjanes Lighthouse with the nearby Great Auk statue. Siggy’s commentary brought life to each stop. His vehicle was clean and comfortable, making for a smooth and pleasant ride throughout the tour. Siggy made this fascinating region of Iceland a most memorable and special experience. He knows where the best bakery stops are located and by late afternoon arranged for the sun to break through a week of clouds and rain! I had an amazing day touring the Reykjanes Peninsula with Sigfús (Siggy) as my driver-guide and my family. He was on time, super friendly, and had a great sense of humor and made the whole day that much more fun. We stopped at some unforgettable places: Kleifarvatn Lake, the fresh lava fields near Grindavík, Brimketill where waves were really churning, the Bridge Between Continents, and even the "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" Volcano Man keyboard near the Reykjanes lighthouse. Siggy knows so much about the land, the history, people, and all the geological happenings in the area. His van was clean and comfortable, and the whole experience felt relaxed but really well-organized. If you want to explore Iceland with someone who’s both knowledgeable and hilarious, I can’t recommend Siggy enough.

Siggi (Sigfús) picked up our business guest from Keflavík Airport and took him on a tour of the Reykjanes Peninsula before driving him to his hotel. It was our guest’s first time in Iceland, and a brilliant way to start the trip. Siggi showed him the incredible volcanic landscape, shared great stories and brought plenty of humour along the way. The Reykjanes landscape certainly made an impression, but afterwards our guest talked even more about how much he enjoyed Siggi’s company — funny, warm and wonderfully engaging, which probably says it all! If you’re looking for a driver and guide in Iceland, we can highly recommend Siggi. Knowledgeable, entertaining and a wonderful introduction to Iceland.

Bridge Between Continents

A symbolic bridge between Europe and North America on the Reykjanes Peninsula. The lava-scarred Reykjanes peninsula lies on one of the world's major plate boundaries, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. According to the continental drift theory, the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are continuously drifting apart with great forces under the gaping rifts. As the plates diverge, linear fissures, form due to stresses created by the tension that builds up as the plates move away from each other. The Bridge between two continents is a small footbridge over a major fissure, which provides clear evidence of the presence of a diverging plate margin.

Gunnuhver Hot Springs

Gunnuhver is the name of an impressive and colourful geothermal field of various mud pools and fumaroles in the southwest part of the Reykjanes Peninsula.Themud pools take form where steam from boiling geothermal reservoir water emanates and condenses and mixes with surface water. Accompanying gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide make the water acid. This causes alteration of the fresh lava rock to clay.

Brimketill is a small, naturally carved pool, by marine erosion, at the lava shore edge west of the town of Grindavík.

Lunch at Grindavik, a town which had to be evacuated because of the eruptions and earthquakes in the area. We will also drive around the town and see how affected the town has been after recent events. We will stop at few locations were you can touch lava from recent eruptions in the area and see the walls which have been built around the Blue lagoon and the town og Grindavik. If interested, we can take a hike to be able to see the craters which have formed in recent events in Reykjanes.

Seltún Geothermal Area

We will drive back to Reykjavik through Krisuvik and Kleifarvatn and stop by a geothermal area named Seltún. At Seltún you will seebubbling mud pools and steaming hot springs. The landscape is other worldly.
