    Such an amazing trip visiting the Moorish castle and the gardens, beautiful scenery and the view over the valley is incredible. We definitely recommend to hire a Tuk Tuk as my wife and I did. We were so lucky to meet Roger (Rogerio Antonio) who’s not just an excellent TukTuk driver but an awesome young man, friendly and so knowledgeable about the history of all the places and the old buildings we passed on our way up. He took his time to explain everything, he stopped several times to either take pictures of us or to fill up our water bottles from the spring water fountain, we never felt rushed and on our way back he recommended us a nice restaurant for lunch. Thank you so much for making our trip unforgettable! We’ll definitely be back!

    We had a private Tuk Tuk tour with David Martins. The tour was full of beautiful sites and interesting information. David was well-informed and extremely knowledgeable. Additionally, you can tell that he really enjoys his job and he loves Sintra. This comes through during the tour and makes it all the more enjoyable. We would highly recommend this tour with David.

    Roger was a great driver and guide. He took us through the essentials going up the mountain to the pena castle. He drove in a very pleasant manner and was very patient in answering our questions. The crew were very helpful in keeping the parking meter running because the tour lasted longer than we had on the meter.

    From the moment we entered the building it was a great experience. The two ladies were extremely knowledgeable, welcoming and caring. They offered very helpful advice and we were made to feel valued. Both ladies had lovely personalities. Our tuk tuk drivers, Roger on the way up, and Marta on the return trip, were very courteous and informative. Nothing was too much bother to them. They made us feel important and appreciated. Based upon our experience, I have no hesitation in recommending this business.

    We came to Sintra for the day with the intention of catching the bus up the mountain to Pena Palace and the castles, until we were kindly offered assistance by the Welcome Centre. Joana was absolutely fantastic and just went out of her way to help us. We purchased the private tuk tuk tour, with Rodrigo and David as our drivers. The service was incredible, and we felt so lucky to have such experienced guides. They went above and beyond as they both grew up in Sintra, so their knowledge was invaluable, and they even included some extra stops. Would absolutely tour with the Sintra Welcome Centre again!

    Centro Historico de Sintra

    We start our tour in the historic center. Between curves and countercurves, walk through the streets of the historic center full of craft shops, pastry shops and typical restaurants.

    Fonte Mourisca

    We will make a brief stop to admire the Moorish inspired Fountain. Built in 1922, with a project by Master José da Fonseca, the Moorish fountain was built with the aim of enhancing the entrance to the village and “dignifying the most appreciated water in Sintra”.

    See the Manueline-style Town Hall. The Town Hall building is strategically located between the two neighborhoods of Sintra: Vila Velha and Vila Nova da Estefânia.

    Sabuga Fountain

    Admire the Fountain of Youth. The fountain of Sabuga in the village of Sintra. Osberno (12th-century crusader) said that its waters soothed coughs, Aquilégio (1726) attributes it qualities in curing “bilious diarrhoea”. Currently, users attribute digestive qualities to it. It is a Fountain, urbanized at the end of the 18th century, between the walls of Quinta do Saldanha. Bring water bottle to fill up for free.

Castelo dos Mouros is a ruined castle nestled among the lush forests of the Serra de Sintra, a privileged spot to admire the view that stretches from Sintra to the sea. Winding along two peaks of the Serra de Sintra, the Castle dates back to the beginnings of the peninsular occupation by the Moors, in the 8th century.

    Park and National Palace of Pena

    Main entrance to the Pena Palace, where it will be the meeting point for the descent of the mountain. It represents one of the best expressions of 19th century Romanticism in the world. Rising on a steep rock, it is the 2nd highest point in the Serra de Sintra. On July 7, 2007, it was chosen as one of the seven wonders of Portugal, being, in fact, the first romantic palace in Europe, built about 30 years before the charismatic Schloss Neuschwanstei. From the Palace, visitors can see a mantle of trees covering more than 200 hectares. This park has beautiful paths and walks, with numerous garden constructions existing there. There are bridges and caves, garden benches, pergolas and fountains. Greenhouses and nurseries with camellias, rhododendrons and roses of unusual and very rare strains. The entire Parque da Pena is today considered the park in Europe, with the richest and most unusual set of tree species that no longer exist in many other countries and continents where they originate.
