I really like small group tours that go in a van. It is very personal, and the driver, Paolo, was amazing. So much knowledge, and you can tell he really loves his country. SIntra and Cascais and a few other stops is the perfect day trip from Lisbon. The pickup at the hotel was the game changer, it is nice in a new city not to have to figure out where to meet a tour.

We booked a small-group tour of 4-6 people but we were 9 in a Mercedes van. I was squished between my husband and the driver/guide and on the back were two grandparents, one mother, one aunt and two teenagers. They were not related to us. The grandmother had a bad cold (I tested positive for Covid 5 days later) and not wearing a mask. The guide was good and we saw quite a bit but I will never book a small-group tour with Viator ever again. We spent 167e, plus paid our own tickets to the palace, snacks, lunch and we added tip for the guide. We could have gotten a private tour guide for that price.

All of the details that Paolo shared with us. His knowledge is extensive providing us with a wonderful experience.

Personable and experience gentleman for our tour guide, Adelanto Jorge, Obrigado !! He made the drive very interesting and comical at times. Would recommend him !!!

If I could leave a zero, I would. We tried to contact the tour operator for a couple days before to confirm our hotel pick up. No response. I called Viator and they said that yes, my hotel was on the list. Stood outside for close to an hour... guide never showed up or made any attempt to contact us. Viator said tpur operator phone number was disconnected. This is FRAUD. Per tour operator instructions, we also purchased palace tickets which went to waste because we weren't there at assigned time. I have lived Viator in the past, but this has me rethinking. We canceled our next Viator tour because we were afraid we could not rely on it actually happening. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Terrible, never answered my messages! Never answered the phone, never picked us up even though it was “confirmed”. And had the audacity to send me a completed message, terrible, they wasted my time. Never book with them.

The trip to Sintra itself was fine. Paolo is a fine host and safe driver. Paolo was very curtious and professional so I want to stress this review isn't really about him. Unfortunately the lack of communication with the tour operator, Ricardo, beforehand was unprofessional and caused me to try and cancel the trip the day before going. The tour listing says the driver will pick you up at 8:30am and drop you off at your hotel around 16:30. I booked this tour mainly for this reason as I have an elderly person in my group. I contacted the host 6 days before the trip to confirm my pickup location and made sure to ask if this location was okay. Upon no reply for three days, I reached out again on Friday, three days before the trip. Nothing. So I reached out to Viator's help line to see if they could reach out and get a response. At this point I thought about canceling, for fear they didn't have enough people or wouldn't pick us up. Viator told me they would contact the host by email and get back with me immediately. So I waited and didn't cancel. However, Friday and Saturday nothing, and Sunday morning, I still hadn't heard anything. Even 24 hrs before the scheduled pick up time of 8:30am. This is NOT normal for any of the tours I have booked on Viator. The hosts are very responsive and give you a 24hr warning message/email to know what to expect before your tour/experience. Then around 13:00 on Sunday (less than 24hrs before the trip) I get a message saying they can't pick us up at our location. So we should walk 6 minutes to St. Vincent statue at 7:45am. That was very unprofessional communication, especially for the price we paid. I expected clearer and more timely communication; especially if they were going to change the time and location like that. They didn't address ignoring me for almost a week or why we were meeting 45 minutes earlier than expected or even the last minute change of address. I tried to cancel since the mood was spoiled, but the host refused, so I was forced to deal with this situation. Honestly I would recommend booking with Inside Lisbon or another provider for a tour to Sintra. For $83/person, you should get a private tour guide to show you through the castles with more details and historical information. Not just a chauffeur to drop you off. Concerning the tour, since I have been on many. I would have loved to book someone else. Other tours take you to Sintra and INCLUDE the $20 palace ticket price in their $80 price tag, and they will take you to the Moors Castle and Quinta da Regaleira also. So please reconsider this tour and wasting your sanity and money. Paolo was great still and I am glad we were able to meet him. Too bad it was under circumstances where the mood was already spoiled.

Paulo was fantastic!! Very knowledgeable and funny. I enjoyed the palace as well as Cascáis. Probably Cascáis more than Sintra. I would definitely book a tour Paula is hosting again.

Very good experience from booking, confirmation in local, pickup and ending back. The guide Palo is great. He is very polite, caring and professional.

Pena Palace was the highlight for us but also enjoyed the visit to Cabo da Roco and the other Atlantic coastal spots. A big shout out for our guide Paolo. He was amazing.
