Discover more about The Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum

The Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum, nestled in Montgomery's historic Old Cloverdale neighborhood, stands as a testament to the lives and legacies of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. This unique museum, the only one in the world dedicated to the couple, resides in the home where they lived from 1931 to 1932. Here, they worked on their respective novels, Scott on *Tender Is the Night* and Zelda on *Save Me the Waltz*. The house itself, a large Craftsman-style structure built in 1904, has a rich history. After the Fitzgeralds moved on, it was converted into apartments before facing demolition in 1986. Saved by Julian and Leslie McPhillips, it was transformed into the museum, opening its doors in 1989. Today, the museum displays a collection of Fitzgerald memorabilia, including letters, personal possessions, photographs, and first editions of their novels. Zelda's paintings also offer a glimpse into her artistic talent. Visitors can explore the museum's exhibits and learn about the Fitzgeralds' time in Montgomery. Knowledgeable guides provide insights into their lives and work. For a more immersive experience, two upstairs apartments, the "Zelda Suite" and the "Scott Suite," are available to rent through Airbnb. The museum also hosts events, lectures, and workshops related to the Fitzgeralds and the Jazz Age. Each year, the museum awards the Fitzgerald Prize for Literary Excellence to an author whose work embodies the spirit of F. Scott Fitzgerald.
