Discover more about Kanionet e Osumit

The Osumi Canyon (Kanioni i Osumit) is one of Albania's most spectacular natural attractions, located in the south of the country near the town of Çorovodë. Often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of Albania," it's a 26-kilometer-long gorge carved by the Osumi River, boasting dramatic cliffs, lush greenery, and serene waters. Formed over 2-3 million years ago by water erosion, the canyon features towering walls that narrow to just 1.5 meters in some sections, expanding to 35 meters higher up. This unique topography has created intriguing rock formations with names like the Cathedral, the Eye, and the Demon's Door. The canyon's ecosystem thrives year-round with Mediterranean vegetation and small caves. During the spring, melting snow elevates the river, making it ideal for rafting. The rapids are Class II, suitable for all experience levels. As summer progresses and water levels recede, visitors can enjoy river hiking, swimming in natural pools, and exploring the canyon's interior. There are also walking trails and scenic viewpoints for photography and admiring the formations. The canyon also holds cultural significance, intertwined with local legends and history. The nearby town of Berat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers well-preserved Ottoman architecture.
