This exquisite palace, whose construction dates back to 1800-1820, reflects the forms of the ancient Casbah. Originally one of the country estates (diar el Fahs) during the Ottoman era, the palace offers visitors a serene escape into a bygone era. The palace's architecture features a labyrinth of small rooms arranged with an upper level and a basement, accessed through an atrium. The intricate stucco lacework adorning the doors showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of its creators. The terrace is sheltered by a sliding glass roof, adding to the palace's unique character. In 1843, the palace was renovated amidst vast green spaces, complete with a fountain and stables. It was once owned by Ahmed Ben Mohamed Ben Zouaoui from Médéa, and later became the property of the Turkish dignitary Hafiz Dahmane Ben Ahmed. In 1910, it was used by a wealthy family of winemakers, the Lungs, until 1942. In 1954, Lung's widow bequeathed the Palais to the Red Cross. Before becoming the home of writer Mouloud Feraoun until his assassination in 1962. Today, Palais Djenane Lakhdar is a classified cultural property, protected by decree.
