Getting There

• Car

  If you're already in Mogollon Rim and traveling by car, begin by heading south on Forest Road 300 (FR 300). Continue for approximately 10 miles until you reach the intersection with AZ-87. Turn left onto AZ-87 and drive for about 8 miles. Look for the signs for Rocky Point Recreation Area, which will be on your right. Follow the signs to the entrance of the recreation area. Parking may require a small fee, so be prepared to pay for parking if necessary.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options in Mogollon Rim are limited, but if you're near a bus stop, check for any local services that may run to Payson. From Payson, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to reach Rocky Point Recreation Area. The distance from Payson to the recreation area is about 10 miles, so be ready for a short car ride. Always confirm the availability of services ahead of time as they may vary.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, biking to Rocky Point Recreation Area is an option. Start on Forest Road 300 and follow the same route as the car instructions. The ride can be challenging, so ensure you are prepared with water and snacks, as well as a good map or GPS device. Expect the ride to take over an hour depending on your pace. Always wear a helmet and be cautious of other vehicles on the road.

• Hiking

  If you prefer to hike, you can take the trails around Mogollon Rim leading to Rocky Point Recreation Area. However, this is recommended only for experienced hikers. Start at a known trailhead such as the Rim Lakes Vista Trailhead and follow the marked trails. Make sure to bring sufficient water and supplies, as this could take several hours.
