From Payson, AZ, head east on AZ-87 N for approximately 15 miles. Turn right onto Forest Road 64 and continue for about 5 miles until you reach the parking area for Railroad Tunnel. The parking lot is located near the trailhead for the hike to the tunnel. Make sure you have a Tonto National Forest pass, which can be purchased online or at local ranger stations.
