If you are driving within Petrified Forest National Park, begin your journey at the Painted Desert Visitor Center, which is located on the north side of the park. Head south on the main park road (Petrified Forest Road) for approximately 15 miles. Keep an eye out for the Martha's Butte trailhead sign on your left. The parking area for Martha's Butte is a small pullout where you can safely park your vehicle.

Once you have parked at the Martha's Butte trailhead, you will need to walk to the butte itself. The trail is unmarked but follows a natural path leading up to the butte. It is recommended to wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water. The hike to the top of Martha's Butte is relatively short but may require some climbing, so be prepared for a bit of a workout.
