Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the center of San Rafael Valley. Head southeast on AZ-80 E for approximately 14 miles until you reach the junction with AZ-186 E. Take the exit toward AZ-186 E and continue for about 21 miles. You'll pass through scenic landscapes, and keep an eye out for road signs indicating Fort Bowie. Once you reach the junction with Apache Pass Road, turn left and continue for another 4 miles until you see the entrance to Fort Bowie National Historic Site on your right at 3500 Apache Pass Rd, Bowie, AZ 85605.

Currently, public transportation options are limited in this remote area. However, you can take a Greyhound bus from a nearby city such as Tucson to Bowie. Once you arrive in Bowie, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Fort Bowie National Historic Site, which is approximately 12 miles away. Ensure you check the bus schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently.

For the adventurous, there is a hiking trail leading to Fort Bowie.
