Getting There

• Car

  From Arkansas Highland, head southwest on Highway 7 (AR-7). Continue on AR-7 for approximately 30 miles until you reach the junction with Highway 14 (AR-14) near the town of Marshall. Turn left onto AR-14 and follow it for about 10 miles. You'll then want to take a right onto Highway 43 (AR-43) which leads directly to the Buffalo National River. Follow AR-43 for around 12 miles, where you will see signs for the Buffalo National River. Depending on which part of the park you want to visit, you can follow signs that will lead you to specific areas such as the Boxley Valley or the Ponca area.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options to Buffalo National River are limited. However, you can take a Greyhound bus to the nearest city, which is Harrison, Arkansas. From Harrison, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to the park, which is approximately 30 miles away. Confirm the availability and cost of the taxi or rideshare service in advance, as this could vary.

• Bicycle

  If you enjoy biking, you can cycle from Arkansas Highland to Buffalo National River. Follow the same route as driving by heading southwest on AR-7, then turning onto AR-14 and finally onto AR-43. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water and snacks, as the ride can take several hours depending on your pace. Note that there may not be dedicated bike lanes on these highways, so be cautious of traffic.

• Hiking

  For the adventurous, if you're near the Buffalo National River and looking to explore, there are several hiking trails leading into the park.
