Discovering the Splendor of Goat Rock Viewpoint

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from the center of Hot Springs National Park. Head southeast on Central Ave toward Bridge St. Continue on Central Ave for about 2.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Hwy 7. Turn left onto Hwy 7, which is also known as the Hot Springs Mountain Drive. Follow this road for approximately 3.5 miles. You will see signs for Goat Rock Viewpoint. Look for the designated parking area on your right side just before you reach the viewpoint. There are no fees for parking at Goat Rock Viewpoint.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, take the local bus service, which operates around Hot Springs. You will want to catch a bus that heads toward the National Park area. Get off at the closest stop to Central Ave. From there, you can walk or take a rideshare service to the Hot Springs Mountain Drive. Note that public transportation may not provide direct access to Goat Rock Viewpoint; therefore, consider using rideshare services like Uber or Lyft for the last part of your journey. Expect to pay around $10-$15 for a rideshare trip from Central Ave to Goat Rock Viewpoint.

• Hiking

  For those looking to hike, you can access Goat Rock Viewpoint via several trailheads within Hot Springs National Park. A popular starting point is the Hot Springs Mountain Trail. Begin your hike at the Hot Springs Mountain Tower, which can be reached by car. Follow the trail markers for Goat Rock Viewpoint. The hike is moderate in difficulty and takes approximately 1-1.5 hours one way, depending on your pace. Be prepared with water and sturdy shoes. The trail does not have any entry fees, but you will need to park at the Mountain Tower parking area, which is free.
