Discover more about Arlington Lawn

Arlington Lawn, a prominent feature of Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas, offers visitors a serene and historically significant space to unwind. This expansive lawn, located at 399-301 Crescent Ave, gets its name from the fact that the first two versions of the luxury Arlington Hotel were situated here. The first Arlington Hotel, a 150-room wooden structure, was completed in 1875. It was designed to provide guests with the most modern and first-class accommodations. In 1893, it was replaced by a larger, more elaborate brick, stone, and iron hotel that boasted a Moorish and Spanish Renaissance style, featuring a glass-topped rotunda, a large ballroom, and bridges that connected to Hot Springs Mountain. This second hotel had 300 guest rooms, 50 of which included private bathrooms. Unfortunately, it burned down in 1923 and was replaced in 1925 by the iconic 500-room Arlington Hotel that still stands today, located just north of the park across Fountain Street. Today, Arlington Lawn serves as a tranquil oasis where visitors can relax and enjoy the outdoors. It's an ideal spot for picnicking, walking, flying a kite, or simply soaking in the sights and sounds of downtown Hot Springs. The Hot Water Cascade, the most visible spring in the park, is located at the northern end of the lawn, where hot water flows from the hillside into two pools. Although the park keeps most of the springs sealed to prevent contamination, the Hot Water Cascade offers a glimpse into the area's natural thermal activity. The thermal waters are collected and distributed to various locations, including jug fountains, bathhouses, and the Arlington Hotel.
