Discover more about Palm Beach

Palm Beach, located in the Noord district of Aruba, is a celebrated destination known for its stunning shoreline and lively atmosphere. Officially registered as a beach in 1960, its name is said to be derived from a local coconut plantation owner who named it after Palm Beach, Florida. However, other sources suggest it was named for the date and coco palms planted in the area in 1917. Palm Beach boasts a two-mile stretch of white sand and clear turquoise waters, making it a haven for both relaxation and recreation. The calm waters are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and various water sports. A long sidewalk runs along the beach, providing a scenic route for leisurely strolls. This bustling beach is lined with high-rise hotels, casinos, shops, restaurants, and bars, creating a lively environment. After sunset, the area comes alive with clubs and casinos offering upbeat nightlife. Palm Beach is also home to two large shopping malls, Paseo Herencia and Palm Beach Plaza Mall, offering a variety of retail and entertainment options. While the area is now a bustling tourist hub, its history dates back to the Caquetios Indians from the Arawak tribe, who were the first inhabitants of the area around 100 A.D. In 1499, the Spanish explorer Alonso de Ojeda arrived and established a small garrison. The Dutch eventually took control of the island, with brief interruptions of English rule. Palm Beach's first tourist office opened in 1947, followed by the construction of the first hotel in the 1950s, the Hotel Basi-Ruti. Today, Palm Beach continues to evolve, with ongoing development and a focus on providing a memorable experience for visitors.
