Getting There

  • Bus

    From Byron Bay, head to the Byron Bay Bus Terminal located at 61 Jonson Street. Look for the 'Byron Bay to Ballina' bus service. Purchase a ticket to Knockrow. The bus will take you along the main road. Once you arrive at the Knockrow stop, exit the bus and head east towards Hinterland Way. The Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is located at 419 Hinterland Way, about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Byron Bay. Start your journey by riding along the coastal path towards the Byron Bay Lighthouse. Continue on Lighthouse Road until you reach the intersection with Bangalow Road. Turn left and follow Bangalow Road until you reach the junction with Hinterland Way. Turn right onto Hinterland Way, and the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary will be on your left at 419 Hinterland Way. The total ride is approximately 8 km and should take about 30 minutes.

    If you prefer to walk, start at the Byron Bay Main Beach. Head towards Lawson Street and follow it until you reach the intersection with Bangalow Road. Turn right onto Bangalow Road and continue walking straight. You will eventually reach the junction with Hinterland Way. Turn left onto Hinterland Way, and after about a 30-minute walk, you will see the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary on your right at 419 Hinterland Way.
