If you're driving from Sydney city center, head north on the M1 Pacific Motorway. Take the exit towards the A3 (Warringah Road) and continue on this road for approximately 20 kilometers. Follow signs for the A3 and then take a left onto Pittwater Road (B1). Continue on Pittwater Road until you reach the turn-off for Barrenjoey Road. Follow Barrenjoey Road until you reach the road leading to Great Mackarel Beach. Note that parking may be limited, so it's advisable to arrive early. Expect parking fees in some areas.

To reach Great Mackarel Beach using public transport, take a train from Central Station to Woy Woy Station on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. Once at Woy Woy Station, transfer to Bus 88 (Palm Beach via Woy Woy). The bus will take you directly to the vicinity of Great Mackarel Beach.
