Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Mount Schneeberg and head towards the B27 highway. Follow signs for 'Rax' as you approach the town of Prein an der Rax. After about 15 minutes, take the exit toward Rax Seilbahn. Continue on the road until you reach the Rax cable car station. Keep in mind that parking is available, but there may be a fee of around €5 for the day.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, begin at the Mount Schneeberg train station (Bahnhof Schneeberg). Take the train to Payerbach-Reichenau, which takes about 20 minutes. From the Payerbach-Reichenau station, transfer to bus number 150 towards Prein an der Rax. Get off at the stop 'Rax Seilbahn', which is directly at the cable car station. The total travel time from Mount Schneeberg to Rax using public transport is approximately 50 minutes, and a one-way ticket costs around €4.

  • Walking from Cable Car Station

    Once you arrive at the Rax cable car station, purchase a ticket for the cable car (approximately €19 round trip). The cable car will take you up to the summit area of Rax in about 8 minutes. After disembarking, follow the marked hiking trails that lead to various lookout points and scenic views of the surrounding mountains.
