Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Mirabell Palace, exit the palace grounds and head towards the Mirabellplatz tram stop. Take tram line 1 in the direction of 'Gneis' and get off at 'Mönchsberg'. From the tram stop, walk up the hill towards Mönchsbergstraße. Continue straight until you reach the entrance of the Mönchsberg mountain trail. Follow the trail up for approximately 10-15 minutes until you reach Freyschlössl - Roter Turm, located at Mönchsberg 15.

    Starting from the Salzburg Hbf (main train station), exit the station and head towards the bus terminal nearby. Take bus line 5 towards 'Mönchsberg' and get off at the stop named 'Mönchsberg'. After getting off, ascend the pathway leading to Mönchsberg. Continue straight and follow the signs for Freyschlössl. It will take about 10 minutes to walk from the bus stop to the destination.

    From the Getreidegasse, walk towards the Salzach River and cross over the Makartsteg bridge. After crossing, turn left and walk along the riverbank until you reach the Mönchsberg lift (Mönchsberglift). Take the lift up to the top of Mönchsberg. Once you exit the lift, follow the signs to Freyschlössl - Roter Turm, which is a short walk from the lift exit, approximately 5 minutes.
