Discover more about Parade Court Fountains

The Parade Court Fountains, situated in Vienna's renowned Schönbrunn Palace gardens, exemplify Baroque artistry and architectural grandeur. Constructed between 1725 and 1732 as an extension of the palace complex, these fountains served as a focal point for royal festivities. The two main marble fountains, adorned with sculptures by Johann Bergl, draw inspiration from Roman aqueducts. Sixteen smaller fountains surround the central features, enhancing the visual spectacle. In 1776, the figural groups in the fountain basins were replaced with new sculptures by Johann Baptist Hagenauer and Franz Anton Zauner. The statues in the eastern basin represent the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria and Transylvania, while the figures in the western basin symbolize the rivers Danube, Inn, and Enns. The fountains create a serene atmosphere, inviting visitors to admire the palace, Grand Fountain, and Gloriette. The Parade Court Fountains offer a captivating glimpse into the Habsburg dynasty's opulence and artistic achievements. The meticulously designed sculptures and the soothing sound of cascading water provide a refreshing and immersive experience. The fountains are accessible year-round, allowing visitors to explore Austria's imperial past and appreciate the beauty of the palace grounds in any season.
