Beyond domestic competitions, Khazar Lankaran Central Stadium gained UEFA approval in 2009 for international football matches. It hosted its first senior international match on September 5, 2009, between Azerbaijan and Finland. The stadium also served as one of the venues for the group stages of the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
