Getting There

Car
From Caracol, head southeast on the main road. Follow the signs towards the George Price Highway (also known as the Western Highway). This route is approximately 60 km and will take about 1.5 hours. Once you reach the highway, turn left towards Belize City. After around 20 km, take a right turn onto the road that leads to the village of Orange Walk. Continue on this road until you reach the junction for the Lamanai Archaeological Reserve. Follow the signs and dirt road towards the reserve. Note that the last part of the journey will be on a dirt road, so proceed with caution.

From Caracol, you will need to catch a bus heading towards San Ignacio. Once in San Ignacio, transfer to a bus that goes to Orange Walk. After arriving in Orange Walk, you will need to take a taxi or a local shuttle service to the Lamanai Archaeological Reserve. Ensure you confirm with the driver that they are going to Lamanai as some may only go to the nearest drop-off point. The total travel time can take anywhere between 3 to 5 hours depending on connections and waiting times.
