If you are driving from the main entrance of Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, head southeast on the Pine Ridge Road. Continue for about 5 miles until you reach the junction with the Western Highway (Highway 1). Turn onto the Western Highway and continue for approximately 2.5 miles. Look for the sign that indicates the Rio Frio Cave. Turn left onto the dirt road leading to the cave. Drive for about 1 mile until you reach the parking area. The cave entrance will be a short walk from there. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for unpaved roads.
